You don’t make websites?

It’s interesting – seeing the looks on people’s faces when they learn that New Zealand’s only Full-service eCommerce Agency doesn’t employ any full-time developers.

The inevitable question is “If you don’t code a website and hand it over as a finished product, what do you do?!!”

There is consistent amazement at the suggestion that a successful business model has been built around the planning, management and support of online business. Many doubt that there is a place for ‘eCommerce Architects’. One thing is certain; our client’s don’t doubt.

What amazes me is that a ‘website’ is viewed by so many as nothing more than a customisable, tangible commodity that is built to a simple spec sheet and then handed over. It is simply amazing that, given the ever-expanding potential of the web to support (or even lead) marketing efforts, the implementation of what could be a successful online marketing strategy is typically left up to developers.

Seriously, would you ask your printers to come up with your entire branding campaign? Would you ask your IT department do devise a sales process or strategic plan?

Branding, Strategy, Process, Online Marketing, eCommmerce. These are all business concerns and, accordingly, should be handled by business experts.

The best mentors will never give you a step-by-step guide to creating a business. There are plenty of books that attempt to do this. The best consultants will never run your business for you. They are the precisely because of this, because they know that what they know, and who they know, can make all the difference to your success. We have the privilege of working with some of the best developers and web designers available. If they weren’t the best at what they do, we wouldn’t be working with them

In order to answer the question of what we do as a company, we must first ditch the paradigm that websites are commodities that can be created and sold. We don’t sell websites. We sell business solutions and services. We consult, plan, and implement. Basically, we make sure your online goals are met. Stay tuned for numerous case studies that will illustrate just how this is achieved.
