VINCENT VAN GOGH - Starry NightWe all know the phrase “a picture is worth a thousand words”. We also know that good copywriting gives your website good content, and good content appeals to your visitors and converts visitors into customers. Every visitor who comes to your website has different needs. To appeal to your customer’s needs your content has to instigate a positive emotion, or a strong enough scent, for them to take one step (or click) further. Placing a relevant and emotive image can help to draw interest and quickly communicate your message to your customer.

Good copy, coupled with an effective image, work together to give your web content a magnetic appeal.

One of the recent TheGrok podcast articles titled “Van Gogh on Creating Magical Web Content” gave an excellent analogy on creating effective web content that draws in your visitors. Vincent Van Gogh (being one of my personal favourite painters), through his most renown work ‘Starry Night’, has captivated his ‘readers’ to immerse into his artist world through his unique emotional colour use and bold brush strokes. As for web, your content should be strategically designed with the same aspiration.

Here are some simple tips to get you started (you don’t have to cut off your earlobe and dwell in an asylum to do this):

Use title text that drives urgency and choose models who appeal directly to your target demographic.Wine Bottle

The use of quality product photography can lift your web images’ realistic appeal. Portray your product through more than one angle shot, provide multiple zoom levels to see it in high detail, or even feature it being used in a real-life scenario.

As the web progresses customers also become more particular in their expectations. Your website, like Van Gogh’s artistic influence, should immerse your customers into the web content thus delivering a shopping experience like no other.
