Selling Online vs Pickup Lines

During my time here at Exceed Online I have learned a great many things regarding the web and selling online. I have seen many an analogy to help describe why certain websites do not reach their potential or lack in certain crucial areas.
Today I would like to present to you the analogy of selling online being not too dissimilar to attempting to attract the interest of a potential date at a bar.
I can already hear the creaking of your eyebrows as they rise up your face in disbelief so bare with me.
First: Women are most likely going to be attracted to looks so you are going to want to have your friends give you a once over to make sure you are up to scratch. Sorry guys; girls don’t really dig the ridiculously simple look anymore and they don’t really like being overly confused or distracted much either.
Second: Don’t pretend to be something you are not. Not only can it get you in legal trouble it will most likely make you as unpopular as Winston Peters.
Related to that, if you were never sure what your websites purpose was to begin with and it has since changed over time to something that is contradicting to that which it appears to do for the user then chances are you need to start over with a new game plan or “find yourself”.
Third: Be loud and obnoxious. Well maybe not put quite like that, but you want to be known and out there.
No one is going to notice you if you sit in the darkest least crowded part of the bar.
Fourth: Know how to talk the talk and walk the walk. Women love a man that is upfront and assured of himself.
Those are the basic things but there are a lot of little things that are also done wrong throughout the process of “securing the transaction“. Lets say you do manage to “get lucky” and she has come home with you.
She is going to want to know more about you because contrary to popular belief; human decency has not completely sunk to the level of people sleeping with random strangers before even getting to know them at least a little.
Another thing, when you are “sealing the deal” it is only polite to see the whole process through. Don’t pawn her off onto a third party to process the transaction for you.
Can you imagine how weird that would be for a woman to head home with a guy looking for love only to have him tag in a buddy of his while he heads into the lounge to watch TV?
There is a lot more I could say on this and lot more examples I could give but I have an interview on Oprah starting in about ten minutes, this is the E Commerce Dr. Phil signing out.
