Although figures for NZ are even higher, recent stats from the US search landscape show Google accounts for 72.09% of all searches.
The recent Hitwise data, conducted for the 4 weeks ending 31 Jan 09, also reported Yahoo Search, MSN Search and Ask.com receiving 17.81%, 5.44% and 3.31% respectively.
The remaining 44 search engines included in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool making up 1.35%.
Search engines continue to be the primary way that internet users start their research online.
Comparing search from Jan 09 to Jan 08, double-digit growth was reported for traffic coming directly from search engines for the business and finance, sports, online video and social networking categories in particular.
