Do Fonts Affect Conversion?

There is an interesting study available online from the Software Usability Research Laboratory.

It looks at the effect different fonts have on the perception of email.

Of the standard Windows fonts, Verdana and Arial top the list with fancier font types like Comic Sans and Impact rank a lot lower.

Stick to the Basics

Try and stick to the basics when designing and building your website.

The web is still a relatively new technology - the majority of your websites visitors probably won’t be web whiz-kids. Keep the following things in mind:

  • Link Colour: The traditional colour for links on the web is blue. Everyone knows that if text is blue and is underlined, it is a link which they can click on. It is amazing the number of websites I have seen where the link colour is the same colour as the body text and/or the underline has been removed.

Quick Conversion Tip - Just Add Text

Here’s an easy to implement idea from the guys over at GrokDotCom.

Problem: Livesouth.com has tons of great content but visitors aren’t seeing all of it. They have high quality pictures on their site and they aren’t being seen. If the picture on property pages are clicked slideshows pop-ups, displaying multiple pictures. Visitors lose persuasive momentum by not seeing the additional images.
